Fangirl: A Book Review

Image
Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell Fangirl  by Rainbow Rowell is a young adult novel about an 18 year old girl named Cath who is going off to College. She is a huge Simon Snow fan (think Twilight meets Harry Potter) and in her spare time she writes (really good) fan fiction about the two main characters. Cath is a packaged deal, with her twin sister, Wren (their parents named them Cather and Wren for Catherine) they both attend the same college together, unfortunately for them, they end up with separate roommates. While Wren flourishes in college, becoming a popular student and enters into the dangerous line between drinking and partying verses her school work, Cath is drowning. Her only source of comfort becomes her world of fan fiction with about Simon Snow. I, personally have never played any type of MUVE (multi-user virtual environments) outside of the Sims. I have watched several friends or family play the ever popular game, Minecraft. Minecraft is a MUVE where the player becomes an avatar and creates their own world.  In game a player can't create their own avatar (think customization), but they have a few options to choose from depending on what system they are playing with. Within the game players have the option of raising a farm with animals such as pigs, sheep, cows, and chickens. They even can domesticate anim

Comparing and Contrasting  Instagram and LinkedIn Two social media networks that I've used both professionally and personally include Instagram and LinkedIn. Instagram is my personal account that I use, whereas, LinkedIn is a professional account I use to keep up and maintain my connections that I've made as I've built my semi-professional career in Philanthropy and now in Library Science.  These two social media platforms are completely different in many ways. Instagram is built purely on the sharing, liking, and commenting of pictures and videos. LinkedIn is a social network similar to Facebook where you create a profile filled with your professional skills, past, and current jobs. LinkedIn works almost like an electronic resume where one can continually update it to best represent one's current work. Instagram, on the other hand, is considerably less professional. While it can be used in a professional regard (many businesses, schools, and libraries use Instagr
