Secret Shopper

My secret shopper experience began at a local library. I stopped at the circulation desk and they sent me to reference when I asked for a good book recommendation. I went to the reference desk and waited my turn. When my turn arrived I asked the library worker for "a good book recommendation." She asked me if I had any genre in mind, and I told her something different from what I have read before. I told her I enjoy reading inspirational, romance, and general fiction works. She asked me if I liked fantasy novels and I told her I have not really read any fantasy novels besides Harry Potter or young adult novels. She recommended the book Shades of Milk and Honey by Mary Robinette Kowal, describing it as Pride and Prejudice with magic. She told me I could find the book in under the call number "SF Kow" and said that she hoped I enjoyed the book.  I think the book sounds interesting and I think I will enjoy it as I have enjoyed books with magic elements in them befor

Week Three Prompt

1.        I am looking for a book by Laurell K. Hamilton. I just read the third book in the Anita Blake series and I can’t figure out which one comes next! The fourth book in the Anita Blake series is called The Lunatic CafĂ© published in January 1996. Using Novelist I searched under authors and then went to series. Laurell K. Hamilton also has a graphic novel series based on the original Anita Blake series if you are interested in reading those! 2. What have I read recently? Well, I just finished this great book by Barbara Kingsolver, Prodigal Summer. I really liked the way it was written, you know, the way she used language. I wouldn't mind something a bit faster paced though. I would recommend the book Anthill by Edward O. Wilson.  This novel follows the path of Raff who is described as a “modern-day Huck Finn.” I found this novel by searching for Prodigal Summer and looking through the read-a-likes to find something that was mainstream, ecofiction, but still had

Reading Profile

I love to read and try to find time to read as often as possible. I can likely be found reading two books at once, and when I take one library book back I usually end up with two more to check out. For a while I mostly read young adult fiction, but in the last two years I have stretched my reading habits and have moved on to more romance novels (such as Debbie Macomber), inspirational romance novels, and non-fiction books (mostly biographies and religion based books). I also like to read historical fiction and fantasy but I have not found adult fantasy books that I enjoy as much as I enjoy young adult fantasy and science fiction. I also love reading audio books so I can read while cleaning house or crocheting. With young adult novels I love to read authors such as Sarah Dessen, Rainbow Rowell, Sarah J. Maas, and James Dashner. Some of these authors, such as Rainbow Rowell, are also known for the genre-New Adult. A term which is new to me and I think I would enjoy this genre.  I am ha
